Me needs large sharp things called swords

Although swords are large and pointed, not small and pointless, I still feel the need to have some. It also pains me to give the baron any of my QI'yaH. None the less I would like to have 2 swords please dear smithy. If you can make them from some pretty Damascus steel I will spread great praise of your work throughout all Nomiblog and wipe the blood from the blade with nothing but fine silk.

I'd be happy to honor your request, but I am unable to do so as of this moment - but perhaps tomorrow?.

Rule 55 states that Swords can only be provided if the request follows certain procedures - namely they must be posted as a comment on Rule 55. Seperate posts don't work.

However, if Bill Zero passes, then I'll feel compelled (and empowered) to retroactively honor this request, since intent was clear even if proper form was not followed.

So, check back tomorrow after noon, and perhaps you'll have a sword.

Really? Bill zero would override this error? (Though I notice that smalls posted his request on 55 as well.) I think the thing saying "post a request on this thread" is pretty intentional. It keeps people from posting lots of front page posts for what's essentially paperwork.

I guess I see a difference between direct instructions (like post "here") and issues of exact wording. I think for myself, I'm going to write some ambiguity into bill language itself (so as to avoid having to invoke bill zero when it's needed).

Plus, within the world of Nomiblog, I see posting the comment on bill 55 as equivalent to walking over to the Smithy's place to ask for a sword.

Good point. Rule #Zero fixes wording, but it's doesn't specifically mention putting things in the wrong place.

While I can say my intent was to fix things were something got posted instead of commented, I didn't mention that in the bill.

And I didn't intend the converse to be true - you can't post a comment somewhere and have it count as a new Bill. Things would get pretty confusing if you could place votes as posts instead of comments.

I stand corrected. Small's post asking for a sword doesn't count as a sword request.

Which is a shame, 'cause it's much easier for me to find things at the top of the blog than to constantly refer back to old rules. I should have written bill zero better, I guess.
